Praying for Rich Cornish

Posted by Pastor Fies on 30th April 2009

Rich Cornish has been on life support for ten days now.  He has been a source of strength for his family and his wife, Pam.  Tomorrow they are planning a tracheotomy and a spinal tap.  He has been recently diagnosed with Valley Fever.

(Valley fever is caused by fungi in the soil. The fungi that cause valley fever can be stirred into the air by anything that disrupts the soil, such as farming, construction and wind. The fungi can then be breathed into the lungs. Valley fever is a form of coccidioidomycosis.  Courtesy of MayoClinic.com)

Rich has clearly stated that he knows Christ as his personal Saviour.  We don’t know when God might call him home; but we know that when He does, Rich will be ready.  Please pray for Rich and Pam, his wife.  Pam was one of the ladies in the church where I grew up as a child and has been by his side day and night.  “We’re rootin’ for you, Rich.  Be strong!”

It’s a Boy!

Posted by Pastor Fies on 29th April 2009

Today, my wife and I (pastor) found out that we will be having a boy which is due on October 7th. We are excited about what God has given us.

The Bible says in Psalm 127:3, “Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.” In a society that has popularized things like “the morning after” pill and devalued life by giving the parents a choice whether the baby will live, we still know that life is a blessing from God. Every life is a wonderful thing. I wonder how many cures for disease or courageous acts have gone undone because some parent treated their unborn baby as a “mistake” or burden.

God is the giver of life and the giver of gender.  We know that God has given us just what He knows we should have.  Praise God!

Friend Day Preparations

Posted by Pastor Fies on 28th April 2009

This Sunday, May 3rd, is Friend Day and preparations are on their way. Here are some ways to prepare:  1) Invite a friend.  2) Pray for a good turn out.  3) Volunteer to help. (Leave a comment and we will contact you).  4) Come ready for a great day!

We have a great service planned for both adults and children. There will be a potluck fellowship after and air bounces for the kids. It will be a great day together! And make sure you make the most important preparation–plan to attend.

Four Years of Blessings

Posted by Pastor Fies on 27th April 2009

Today marks four years since McKee Road Baptist Church called me to be their pastor. I am sure it was not what anyone was expecting, least of all me, but it has been a growing experience. There have been many blessings along the way. I believe it is best to mark the passing of time by blessings rather than burdens.

Counting the blessings I must say I am thankful for the people who have found Christ as their Saviour including two of my children. It is a blessing to have a church family that loves God, each other, and their pastor. I am excited to think of many more years if the Lord tarries His coming. Praise God for four years!
